Accessories and precautions for children's bicycles
A chain cover is essential for children's bicycles, where the maximum saddle height is equal to or greater than 560mm. A chain cover or other protective device should be installed to cover the outer surface of the meshing part of the chain and sprocket.
When the chain is fully engaged on the sprocket, the chain cover shall exceed the outer side of the chain in the direction of diameter. If other protective devices are used instead of the chain cover, the cover shall be extended to the point where the sprocket teeth initially enter into the plates on both sides of the chain and be measured along the chain to at least 25mm.
Children's bikes with saddles up to a maximum height of less than 560mm should be equipped with a chain cover, which covers the outer surface and edges of the chain, sprocket and flywheel, as well as the inner surface of the chain and chain wheel engagement to prevent the child's fingers from getting hurt. Since children's bikes are not used for road riding, they must be used under adult supervision and must not be used for road riding.
